Magic Mayan Chocolate Review & Giveaway

There are so many pleasures that I get from writing a food blog and one of the greatest has got to be the opportunities I’m given to review yummy food products … and then give them away to you guys!  This week have I got one fantastic giveaway lined up for you! 🙂

Magic Mayan Chocolates are hand crafted by a family-run business based in Kilfenora, CountyClare, Ireland. The chocolate bars are ‘raw’ which means that they have been processed minimally, with temperatures not exceeding 45 degrees. This allows the cacao to retain all its natural goodness, including its high concentration of antioxidants (more information on the nutrient profile of raw chocolate can be found in this post, that I wrote back in 2011).

The Magic Mayan Chocolate bars are also dairy-free, gluten-free and soya-free, making them suitable for those with allergies. Since they contain no refined sugar, they are also suitable for diabetics.

The Magic Mayan chocolate bars are beautifully presented in a gold foil wrapper and a recycled paper cover. Upon opening the packaging, I was really impressed to find the chocolate bar itself has a beautiful Mayan design. The appearance of this chocolate bar really does have the ‘wow’ factor.

Texture-wise, the Magic Mayan chocolate is very different to any other raw chocolate that I’ve tasted before. Others (including my own home-made raw chocolates) have a smooth, melt in your mouth texture.  In contrast, the Magic Mayan chocolate is crisp and crunchy. I’m guessing that this difference is due to the choice of sweetener. The Magic Mayan chocolate is sweetened with coconut palm sugar, whereas others (including my own) are sweetened with natural liquid sweeteners, such as Sweet Freedom and agave syrup.

The Magic Mayan bars come in nine different flavours and we were lucky enough to be sent three to try, titled ‘Christmas Cheer’, ‘Creamy Cashew’ and ‘Crazy Caramel’. Of the three, our favourite was the Christmas Cheer bar.  This one was clearly something special.

Upon unwrapping this bar, you are hit with the wonderful fragrance of oranges. As well as orange oil, this bar contains caramelised almonds and mixed spice, so, for us, this bar truly does invoke the taste of Christmas.

Magic Mayan Chocolate Offer & Giveaway

So how would you like to try some Magic Mayan chocolate for yourself? The kind people over at Magic Mayan have arranged some great offers for my lovely followers 🙂

Firstly, if you order four or more bars, they will give you a free bar of your choice. At the checkout, simply type in the word ‘giveaway’ in the coupon code box and state the flavour of your chosen free bar.

If you would like to send some Magic Mayan chocolate as a gift, they will arrange personalised, handwritten gift tags on request at no extra charge.

And, they have also offered to give away three of their chocolate bars to my followers 🙂  This giveaway is international, so you are welcome to enter, wherever you live in the world!  And what’s more, you get to choose which of their nine chocolate bars you’d like to try.

    1. Really sorry Rachel that you missed the deadline for this giveaway. As I’d stated the 16th, I thought I better to stick to the rules. But not to worry as I’m planning another raw chocolate giveaway for January 🙂 I’ll make sure I give you plenty of advance warning xx
