Top Picks of Vegan Christmas Chocolates 2016

In today’s post, I’m sharing some of my top picks of chocolates for the upcoming festive season. So if you’re looking to buy chocolates for a vegan loved one… or are vegan yourself and looking to buy a gift for family and friends, I’ve got you covered!

Vegan Town is a great place to head if you’re looking for something special and a bit different. It’s my ‘go to’ shop for vegan chocolates and here are a few reasons why…

  • It’s a small independent UK business run by vegans (and I’m all for supporting the independents and the vegans!)
  • It has the biggest selection of vegan chocolates that I’ve ever seen. I find that high street shops are currently a bit limited when it comes to their vegan chocolate selection, but Vegan Town has it all.
  • It stocks vegan chocolates suitable for children AND adults.
  • If you’re looking for something a little unusual, then Vegan Town is the place to go. It stocks a wide range of chocolates from European companies that are rare to find in our high street shops.
  • The chocolates are beautifully packaged and aren’t plastered with “FREE FROM” allergy messages (like a lot of our supermarket-branded vegan chocolates), which means they’re perfect for gifting to ANYONE.
  • All the chocolates in the shop are 100% suitable for vegans. Hurray! No more reading labels, checking for dairy, shellac, animal-derived colourings.

Vegan Town currently has lots of Christmas chocolates in stock, but I know they’re selling fast so you need to be quick!

They even stock the ‘Taste of Christmas’ by Goupie (which I talked about in this post). It’s retailing at £4.49 per box, which is great value for a quality, hand-made product. We always buy our neighbours a bottle of wine and box of chocolates for Christmas and, this year, I think we’ll go for Goupie. It’s packaged in a lovely box which isn’t screaming “vegan” or “free from” and I think it’ll appeal to all kinds of palates, young and old alike. As well as the special Christmas goupie, Vegan Town also stocks the Original, Cherry & Almond, Hazelnut and Orange flavours.

If you’re looking for quality truffles, you can’t go wrong with Booja Booja. I’m always delighted to find a box of these under the Christmas tree with my name on the label. They are a bit pricey, but definitely worth the splurge.

I noticed that Vegan Town also stocks a vegan truffle collection by another of my favourite UK chocolate brands, Montezuma’s. I’ve yet to try these myself so, if you’ve been lucky enough to do so, I’d love to hear what you think of them.

For those with more adventurous palates and who enjoy experimenting with unusual flavour combinations, check out the range by Austrian company, Zotter. Vegan Town stocks a few of the chocolates, including the stunning Christmas star above. It’s made with a combination of white chocolate flavoured with star anise and bitter dark chocolate, decorated with green tea hearts, goji berries, roasted hemp seeds and chocolate flakes.

Moo Free Dairy Free Santa Chocolate

Vegan Town also has lots of Christmas chocolates perfect for filling stockings and hampers. Last Christmas, I bought twenty of these mini moos Santas for the children I teach in my Wednesday meditation workshop, and they loved them! Though dairy-free, they are still ‘milky’ enough to appeal to children’s palates. [UPDATE – Two days since I posted this, the mini moo Santas have sold out for 2016!!!]

Another idea for Christmas stockings are these festive Rudolph ‘Round Ups’. Hand-made by Anandas, these vegan wagon wheels always get rave reviews, and are one of Lil’ L’s personal favourites.

Rosen Garten Santa

These cute organic santas by the German company, RosenGarten are also perfect for stockings and hampers. Recently, Vegan Town kindly sent me one to sample, and it got a huge thumbs up from all family members. Though it looks like dark chocolate, it actually taste more like milk chocolate. It has a silky smooth texture and lovely flavour. We all agreed that this santa would make a great gift for adults and children alike. He measures about 11cm in height, weighs 90g and retails at £3.59.

Vegan Town Selection Box

Finally, another gift idea that I can highly recommend for your vegan loved ones is the Vegan Town Treat Box. I bought one for Lil’ L for his birthday last October, and he was absolutely thrilled with it. We couldn’t believe how many goodies they’d managed to cram inside the box. It really did have the ‘wow’ factor when we opened it. I’m confident that any chocolate-loving vegan (or anyone with a dairy allergy/intolerance) would be thrilled to find one of these boxes under the Christmas tree.

I can’t believe Christmas is only 33 days away. It really has crept up on me! I definitely need to start thinking about Christmas shopping. Have you started yours yet?

  1. I like the look of the chocolate Santa. He’s kind of friendly looking!! Gonna see if I can get a bus to Vegan Town. Sounds like a nice kind of place.

  2. That Zotter chocolate star looks a-m-a-z-i-n-g! I’m a huge fan of adventurous ingredients in my chocolate, for sure. But I would love if someone stuffed my stocking with just about any of these! 😀 Thanks for sharing!

    1. The Zotter chocolates are spectacular aren’t they? If you like adventurous ingredients you’d definitely love their range!

I’d be happy to find any of these in my stocking too 😉

  3. Those Rudolph treats look sooooo good! We were able to get a vegan advent calendar this year for our little lady & also some mini moo packs too. She is looking forward to them.
I sadly haven’t even started Christmas shopping – this year has gone by wayyyyyyyyyy too quickly!

    1. I’m so glad you managed to get an advent calendar this year! I sadly struck out as I left it too late… I hunted all round the shops on Monday and online, and not a single vegan calendar left 🙁 I feel a bit bad for Lil’ L. I might have to be creative and make him one instead x

    1. I haven’t had a chance to have a proper look round the market yet but I’m so thankful that I short-cutted through Bath Street on Sunday and stumbled across Heg Gro’s ‘Forager’s Fare’ stall. I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the vegan cheeses on sale! Best cheeses I’ve ever tasted! Luckily they’re freezable so I’ve stashed my in the freezer otherwise they’d all been gone by now 😉
