This delicious crumble is packed with goodness. It contains reduced levels of sugar and fat compared to classic crumbles. The addition of wholemeal flour, oats and nuts gives it a nutritional boost. Enjoy!

130g / 4½ oz / 1 cup wholemeal (wholewheat) flour
100g / 3½0z / 1 cup rolled oats
1 tsp baking powder
75g / 2½oz / 1/3 cup coconut oil
27g / 1oz / ¼ cup nuts, chopped (we use brazil nuts, pecans and almonds)
27g / 1oz / ¼ cup ground almonds
75g / 2½oz / 1/3 cup dry sweetener (we used soft brown sugar)
900g / 2lb / 5½ cups plums, stoned and halved
1 tsp ground cinnamon
110g / 4oz / 1/3 cup liquid sweetener (we use Sweet Freedom fruit sweetener)
- Preheat the oven to 180C (fan 160C)/ 350F / Gas 4.
- Place the flour, oats and baking soda in a large bowl. Add the coconut oil and lightly work into the flour and oat mix using your fingertips. When the oil has blended in and the mixture looks crumbly, mix in the chopped nuts, ground almonds and dry sweetener.
- Place the plum halves in the base of a pie dish. Sprinkle the cinnamon and drizzle the liquid sweetener over the plums. Spread the crumble mixture evenly on top and bake for 30 minutes, until the top starts to brown and the plum juice is bubbling.
- This crumble is delicious served warm or cold, on its own or with natural yoghurt or ice cream as an accompaniment.
